Sunday Morning Small Group | 11:11am
NEW study: Staying at the Table starting Sunday, January 11

All are welcome to join our discussion group!

Tired of the division and hypocrisy in the church today? Discover a new vision for a church grounded in love, unity, and prophetic imagination that welcomes everyone to the table. This book will inspire you to become a catalyst for change and build a church that lives up to its calling.

In a world of increasing polarization, the church is called to be a beacon of hope and unity. Staying at the Table challenges us to confront injustice, embrace diversity, and live out the radical love of Christ. How do we have difficult conversations? How do we dream together of a more vibrant faith, a more energized faith community, a better world? It starts with a church grounded in deep spiritual practice, Biblical engagement, and God’s love and imagination. Staying at the Table is an essential guide for anyone who longs for a church ready to leave behind the tired, hollow words that have little impact on its community and to lean into an authentic faith that truly, deeply embodies the teachings of Jesus.

With chapters that explore….Everything Begins With God ...Let’s Start With Limitless Love ...Imagine With Me ... Let’s Be the Church We Say We Are …. Staying At The Table …. Changing The Narrative … and…. I Want A Church that…..

Written by Rev. Terri Hord Owens, currently serving as the General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Hord Owens’ resume includes more than 20 years in corporate America leading diverse teams in data management before she entered seminary. For 15 years, she served as the dean of students at the University of Chicago Divinity School, shepherding a varied student body in both background and theology.

#FCCROCKS

John 8:7 “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone {at her}.”
In this ministry we strive to remember that none of us are perfect.  We want to use these stones as a bridge  - so as in reference to scripture, not cast or throw stones, but rather use these stones to share reminders of grace, love, acceptance and worth in the eyes of God.  We paint these messages together in fellowship and send them out into the world in hopes of changing a heart or life, if even for a moment.  Visit + request to join our Facebook Group to learn about upcoming painting times.

You can also visit our page here on our website to learn more about upcoming times and stories of those who have found our rocks!

Mid-Week
Relational Groups

A Novel Idea

Picture
Every third Tuesday you can hear discussions and ideas being shared from "A Novel Idea" relational group. This group meets on the first floor of the Education Building at 5:30PM {every third Tuesday}. Members here have thought provoking discussions surrounding their readings which challenge themselves and each other.

FCC Green Chalice

People in this group deeply care about the environment.  They believe the efforts we make to help better care for the environment are a direct response to our care for God's creation.   It is the duty of our creation to counter-act the deep changes that are happening as a direct result of our choices.

First Christian is a Green Chalice congregation.  To learn more about what this means, read on!

Growing Disciples (Children & Youth)

Picture
Sunday Mornings Children's Sunday School
Our children are a tight knit group of youngsters.  From September-May, your little ones may participate in Sunday School during the worship hour.  Children are invited down for the children's moment and then follow the teacher to journey into their faith as you also grow in worship.

Wednesday Evening Growing Disciples (K-12)
During the school year, children and youth both meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings.   From 6-6:45PM, KidsPraise (prek-5th) move into Music + Movement and Arts + Crafts led by Casey Childers.

FCC Ladies & Mens Night Out

Once a month whoever wants to pop in for fellowship can join the FCC Ladies Night out.  Here, we simply grow together in our varying places in life and have a bit more time to connect than a normal "hi, how are you" after worship! Thank you to Beth Williams for coordinating these fellowship opportunities! Save the date! Next night out, Tuesday, December 16th at 6PM.
