#connect

At First Christian we desire to be one with another.
We fellowship together, pray together and worship together.
From our youngest to our oldest we strive to be the family that God calls us to be.
Small groups are a centering in our experiences and
intergenerational activities serve to bring us closer together.
Below are ways in which you can find a circle within this family of believers.

Sunday Morning
Faith Discussion Groups | 11:11AM following Worship

Sunday Morning | Disciples Class

This class, ages 50 to 70 something, meets every Sunday following worship. Their class is located in the Education Building, currently in the Parlor. This class opens up with a rousing hymn every morning. Members of the class take turn leading each and every week in a lecture and discussion style.

Join us upstairs in the Education Building following worship. All are welcome to join in!  We are currently discussing a topic of "Canoeing the Mountains", letting go of things holding us back from awesome ministry in the future!

In a few weeks we will begin a study on Act, "We are the Church...Let's Act Like It!"

Whether you read or not, join us!

Sunday Morning | Prayer Shawl Ministry

Picture
Our prayer shawl ministry meets Sundays at 11:15AM in the Parlor. This ministry grew out of an education hour experience and is continuing to grow! All materials are provided. Children to senior adults are involved in this ministry which was commissioned on Sunday, February 7, 2016. The prayer shawls are created and distributed to members of our community who are in our prayers. Anyone is welcome to walk in and join at any time! If you know of someone in need of a prayer shawl or would like to be involved, please message us!

#FCCROCKS

John 8:7 “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone {at her}.”

In this ministry we strive to remember that none of us are perfect.  We want to use these stones as a bridge  - so as in reference to scripture, not cast or throw stones, but rather use these stones to share reminders of grace, love, acceptance and worth in the eyes of God.  We paint these messages together in fellowship and send them out into the world in hopes of changing a heart or life, if even for a moment.  Visit + request to join our Facebook Group to learn about upcoming painting times.

You can also visit our page here on our website to learn more about upcoming times and stories of those who have found our rocks!

Mid-Week
Relational Groups

A Novel Idea

Picture
Every third Tuesday you can hear discussions and ideas being shared from "A Novel Idea" relational group. This group meets on the first floor of the Education Building at 5:30PM {every third Tuesday}. Members here have thought provoking discussions surrounding their readings which challenge themselves and each other.   Visit our "Newsletter & Dates" page for information on their upcoming book.

Photoplay

Picture
FCC Wilson has been blessed with numerous photographers at all skill levels who enjoy spending time together and getting behind a lens!  The photographer’s creative images are used in videos, on the church website and printed materials. The members of our ministry share a dedication to photography and a heart of service. Whatever your level of photography is, we would love your involvement.  (Image left by J. Charles Cauley Photography, member of FCC).  Click here to join the Photoplay Facebook Group.

FCC Green Chalice

Picture
People in this group deeply care about the environment.  They believe the efforts we make to help better care for the environment are a direct response to our care for God's creation.   It is the duty of our creation to counter-act the deep changes that are happening as a direct result of our choices.

Kids Praise (K-5)

Picture
Sunday Mornings
Our children are a tight knit group of youngsters.  From September-May, your little ones may participate in Sunday School during the worship hour.  Children are invited down for the children's moment and then follow the teacher to journey into their faith as you also grow in worship.

Wednesday Nights
During the school year, children and youth both meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings.   From 6-6:45PM, KidsPraise (prek-5th) move into Music + Movement and Arts + Crafts led by Casey Childers.

Youth (6-12)

Picture
Youth (6th-12th) break off into a separate group on Wednesday evenings (every other Wednesday) which involves prayer, games and conversations led by Katie Brinson and Rachel Moore.  They find themselves doing service projects, attending camps and growing together in faith.

Young at Heart

Picture
This ministry provides opportunities for the senior members of our congregation to develop new friendships, grow in faith and expand their horizons. All seniors {and even not quite seniors} are welcome to participate in this incredible ministry. We meet the third Wednesday of every month from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM at the Something Different Restaurant. This Young at Heart fellowship enjoys a meal together and participate in various activities, outings, and programs throughout the year.

Women's {CWF} Fellowship

Picture
The Christian Women's Fellowship provides an opportunity for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministry that enables women to develop a sense of person responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ.   The CWF meets on Tuesday afternoons at 2PM.

Music Ministry

Our Music Ministry is a vital and active part of our faith community.  Our Creator-God inspires us to use our own creative talents through the ministry of music by offering our best of great works from the sacred choral, instrumental and organ repertoire.

Our music ministry is a tight knit community that prays, sings, cries and laughs together. Those involved grow as a family and experience deep and challenging spiritual growth as a part of their journey.

All ensembles rehearse weekly from September until May.  During the summer we are fortunate to have a plethora of talented members in our congregation who come forward to share by way of solos or small ensembles.  We welcome young ones who look forward to sharing their music!  We pray that their excitement only continues as they go throughout their journey in life.

The Music Ministry may be described as a very healthy “buffet” - there is much variety and something for everyone.  We do not adhere to one style of music but contrarily welcome a diverse array of music styles.  We are a unified congregation and I pray that our diverse music pallet is an accurate representation of that.

We welcome and invite all who love and enjoy music to join us as we seek to reflect God’s loving and creative Spirit through the ministry of music.  If you feel called to join in our resounding music ministry at First Christian, please feel free to contact me.  Blessings to you in your life and may your voice find a place in the song and praise our life gives to our Creator God.

Chalice Ringers

Picture
The Chalice Ringers is our adult handbell ensemble composed of 10 dedicated adults.  Ringing 3 octaves of Malmark handbells and hand-chimes, they work together focusing on sacred arrangements which are challenging and meaningful.  This ensemble is open to anyone willing to have a great time and share their time and talent for the glory of God.  Basic music skills are not required, but very helpful.
If there is not a position available, we will happily put you on our substitute list!   The Chalice Ringers rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45PM in the Handbell Room.
(Education Building, 1st floor)

Chancel Choir

Picture
The First Christian Chancel Choir has a tradition of musical strength and creativity dating back to the very beginnings of this congregation.   However, while preserving the timeless beginnings of hymnody they present and share new and modern arrangements of all genres.   The Chancel Choir shares a broad variety of music from choral masterworks to spirituals and ecumenical folk arrangements.  The FCC Chancel Choir has a responsibility in ministry to support our congregational singing and offer introits, anthems and benedictions as a gift to God.  This choir includes men and women of diverse musical backgrounds and ages and we would welcome you to join us!
Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30PM.
(Education Building, 2nd floor)

Encounter

Picture
Through worship we encounter the spirit, we encounter Christ, God, ourselves and each other.  These dedicated music leaders, "Encounter", focus on music from the Chalice Hymnal, Chalice Praise, contemporary Christian, gospel, Taize, Caribbean and others, this support of musicians brings diverse backgrounds of music together.  They share together in special music, lead congregational singing and occasionally provide solos.  Encounter rehearses on Tuesday afternoon from 5:30-6:30PM in the Choir Room (Education Building, 2nd floor)

Mobile Music Ministry

Our Mobile Music Ministry is a handful of folks who gather in the homes and nursing homes of our homebound members.  We meet twice a month (typically the first and third Monday of the month at 11AM) and sing the 'favorites' of our members straight from the hymnal.  This spiritual time is deep rooted in prayer, fellowship and some good 'old fashioned' singing.  All are welcome to join in!

Instrumentalists

Here at FCC we celebrate the talents of individuals who are willing to share their gifts.  From guitar to tenor saxophone, we use any gifts to the glory of God and a place for you!

The Space for Grace Concert Series

Throughout the year, FCC provides concerts that are free and open to the surrounding community.  Though the range of the concert sound medium and styles vary greatly, they each bear a heavy emphasis in sacred music.  Learn more about the series!
